Runway Review: Spring 2011 RTW Badgley Mischka
I know that Fall 2011 RTW has been out for a little while now, but it isn't even summer yet! I want the warm weather in NYC to at least hit for a few weeks before I start having to look at darker colors and heavy knits and coats.
This collection was sublime, from the clothes to the hair and makeup! While the outfits weren't very organized in terms of fluidity and progression, it didn't matter to me because I was so captivated by every single outfit. Usually you would see red carpet dresses towards the end of the show, but at this show, it was mixed in everywhere. There was not a single outfit that wasn't wearable, day or night. When I look at runway looks, that's the first thing I notice, if it's wearable to work, brunch, hanging out, night out, etc. This collection has it all!
Their use of denim was wonderful, making it look very chic and sleek with high waisted shorts and relaxed, but tailored, high waisted pants. Their use of sheer clothing was truly tasteful in every way, never revealing too much, and can be worn from beach to brunch. Their red carpet looks were modest, but whimsical. Actually, there was even a gorgeous bridal dress that reminded me of a beautiful destination wedding in some sort of warm region. I'll definitely keep that dress in mind for my wedding in a tropical island sometime in the future lol. The color palette for this entire collection also was very subdued, with the only real bright color being an orangey red.
It was REALLY hard to choose only five, but here are my top 5 looks from the collection...
